چکیده

The number of the discrete samples for the dimensional measurement of machined surfaces and their coordinates is investigated. Counter to intuition, there need not be quadratically more samples than in the case for sampling lines or curves. To justify this novel scheme, accuracy is defined as the discrepancy of a finite point set. Then, from number theory, a particular sequence of numbers is used to compute the sampling coordinates, resulting in a number that is linear in 1D, at the same level of accuracy that is achieved by a 2D uniform distribution. Finally, experimental results of the measurement of machined surfaces modeled as random processes are compiled.

Simulation of Adaptive Sampling in Profile Measurement for Structured Surfaces

Adaptive sampling is a novel sampling design that can redirect sampling effort during a survey in response to the observed values. Its application on surface texture measurement is new, such as working with stylus profilometers. As a start, this paper focuses on a classical one-dimensional adaptive sampling in surface texture measurement for structured surfaces. The sampling simulations show th...

Protecting Surfaces Using One-Dimensional Nanostructures

Ultraviolet waves, because of their short wavelength, have a high energy and considerable damaging effects on surfaces. Protection against ultraviolet radiations is one of the finishing treatments done on surfaces exposed to sunlight. The importance of this issue in relation to human health, due to complications such as skin burns and cancer, is doubled. Up t...

An extension theorem for finite positive measures on surfaces of finite‎ ‎dimensional unit balls in Hilbert spaces

A consistency criteria is given for a certain class of finite positive measures on the surfaces of the finite dimensional unit balls in a real separable Hilbert space. It is proved, through a Kolmogorov type existence theorem, that the class induces a unique positive measure on the surface of the unit ball in the Hilbert space. As an application, this will naturally accomplish the work of Kante...

Intelligent sampling for the measurement of structured surfaces

Uniform sampling in metrology has known drawbacks such as coherent spectral aliasing and a lack of efficiency in terms of measuring time and data storage. The requirement for intelligent sampling strategies has been outlined over recent years, particularly where the measurement of structured surfaces is concerned. Most of the present research on intelligent sampling has focused on dimensional m...
